Description
We are currently looking for a passionate and experienced individual to join our team as our Bursar Officer. Ana G. Mendez University serves a diverse student population, offering bilingual education to the community for traditional and non-traditional students.
The Bursar Officer has responsibility over the financial aspects of student accounts. Posting of charges and payments and transmittal of student documentation fall within these responsibilities, which must be executed in accordance with the Institution’s policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Receive and record to student’s account, tuition payments from students, employers, collection agencies, and federal agencies.
2. Analyze student accounts to ensure eligibility for reimbursement.
3. Prepares refund checks to students.
4. Responsible for reimbursement checks delivery to students for federal aid, loans, and college work study.
5. Lead collection efforts through a collection agency, providing information, supporting documentation, and preparing statements for any existing balance or payment made to the account.
6. Prepare invoice letters to students with an unpaid balance and be responsible for all debt reports.
7. Monthly monitoring of payment plan arrangements. Contact via phone or e-mail any student who has not complied with the payment plan. Keep electronic and paper files of payment plans, and after paid off, send for filing.
8. Perform adjustments to student accounts as needed.
9. Ensure daily balance sheet is completed and delivered to the Bursar’s office.
10. Prepare payment plans to ensure students’ payment compromise as per the student agreement.
11. Coordinate and communicate with other departments that affect students’ account balances, such as Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Services, to assure that proper fees and tuition fees are posted correctly into the student’s account.
12. Work in computer systems, departmental procedures, and review accuracy, problems, programming errors, enhancements, and reconciliations of data.
13. Assist the Director of Bursar Services in any needed area or task related to the Campus. Work in computer systems, departmental procedures, and review accuracy, problems, programming errors, enhancements, and reconciliations of data.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in finance or business administration required.
2. Two (2) years of experience in student services or customer services and executing similar tasks.
3. Ability to express himself/herself effectively, verbally and in writing, in Spanish and English.
4. Computer competency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
5. Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
6. Be committed to a high level of confidentiality.
7. Ability to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships.
8. Highly organized and able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, team- oriented environment.
9. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with personnel and clients.
10. Strong leadership skills and able to work in a team environment with a diverse community.
11. Work Schedule: Schedules are on rotating shifts, including weekends. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs.
