Description
We are currently looking for a dedicated experienced individual to join our team as Academic Program Director – Education. The ideal candidate will plan, organize, execute and direct the General Education component for the University. AGMU serves a diverse student population, offering bilingual education to the community for traditional and non-traditional students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Manage and administer the processes of the General Education (Gen Ed) component following institutional standards.
2. Develop and submit the course schedule to the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Associate Dean of the Academic Division and the Academic Director.
3. Evaluate and refer candidates for the positions required for the operation of the Gen Ed component and participate in the recruitment processes.
4. Supervise the teaching and non-teaching staff assigned to the Gen Ed component under their responsibility.
5. Develop managerial and statistical reports related to the Gen Ed component, as required.
6. Monitor compliance with the work plan assigned to the Gen Ed faculty.
7. Implement the Gen Ed component as designed in the academic division and ensure compliance with their licensing and accreditation requirements.
8. Comply with the policies, manuals, academic procedures, and executive orders that apply to the teaching and non-teaching staff of the Gen Ed component under his/her responsibility.
9. Collaborate with the design of the laboratories and the learning experiences that are carried out as part of the Gen Ed component.
10. Collaborate with the Director of Assessment in collecting data, analyzing it, and preparing a report on the Gen Ed component assessment.
11. Ensure compliance with lecture hours and the make-up of canceled classes according to AGMU’s calendar.
12. Evaluate and recommend the updating and acquisition of bibliographic and information resources for the Gen Ed component in close collaboration with the faculty of his/her department.
13. Coordinate faculty participation in developing new academic programs or the curricular review of existing programs.
14. Comply with the requirements of the Office of the Registrar concerning the academic offerings of the Gen Ed component.
15. Comply with the provisions of the Faculty Handbook in the aspects of the faculty teaching process.
16. Work with the General Education faculty to develop, revise, and implement goals and strategies for the program that are consistent with accreditation and institutional standards.
17. Provide teaching/lectures and language/writing/math laboratory resources for the General Education component, as requested.
18. Support the enrollment process efforts to achieve the institutional goals.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
1. A Doctorate in one of the following fields is required:
a. Educational Leadership (Ph.D or Ed.D) or an equivalent doctoral degree.
b. Educational Administration (Ph.D or Ed.D) or an equivalent doctoral degree.
c. Curriculum and Teaching (Ph.D or Ed.D) or an equivalent doctoral degree.
2. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in higher education, with a focus on academic administration, teaching, learning assessment, and curriculum development.
3. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing student retention strategies, including early intervention programs, academic advising, and support initiatives to improve student persistence and success in higher education.
4. Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
5. Ability to express himself/herself effectively, verbally and in writing, in Spanish and English.
6. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills and teamwork.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
8. Commitment to student success and the institution’s mission.
9. Able to submit a copy of any diploma, academic transcripts and/or certifications
10. Proven leadership skills from your previous work experience.
11. Knowledge and experience in learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)
12. Experience directing or participating in dissertation committees.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience in academic program leadership or coordination.
2. Familiarity with accreditation processes and quality assurance in higher education.
3. Competence in data analysis and institutional research to track and improve student performance and retention.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
1. Available to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
2. Work Location: On Campus - Cupey, PR.
