We are currently looking for a passionate and experienced individual to join our team as our Associate Director of Media and Communications. Ana G. Mendez University serves a diverse student population, offering bilingual education to the community for traditional and non-traditional students. Responsibilities consist of directing, developing, and implementing internal and external communications strategies and processes. Provide support to the supervisor regarding AGMU communications, advertising, and publications processes and activities.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assist in negotiations of contracts and services provided by the traditional and non-traditional media providers.
2. Plan and manage branding, print and collateral materials, web, new media initiatives, and other marketing efforts for AGMU.
3. Write, edit, and revise outward-facing materials including presentations, blog posts, announcements, newsletters, fact sheets, web, and social content for AGMU.
4. Oversee brand standards, logo usage, and print publications to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as college policies, practices, and procedures.
5. Responsible for content development for traditional and non-traditional media and internal and external communications as requested.
6. Responsible for managing institutional social media. This includes community management and the establishment of organic and paid strategies for lead generation.
7. Manage institutional text messages and the official AGMU account on social networks, which includes content development, publication, monitoring, and responding to comments and requests from followers of the social network.
8. Prepare communications in situations that require emergency or crisis management.
9. Collaborate in the communication plan for the emergency operations committee.
10. Prepare digital communications for students, faculty, and all the communities we serve.
11. Provide advice in the communication strategies requested by officials, faculty, and administrative and academic directors.
12. Provide advice in the communications campaigns to promote student services such as Financial Aid, Enrollment, Graduations, Job Fairs, among others.
13. Identify opportunities and trends in the market to generate new students.
14. Establish relationships with traditional and non-traditional media.
15. Work collaboratively with the Associate Director of Marketing and Outreach to develop new strategies for capturing new markets.
16. Determine the method to be used to notify official AGMU communications, i.e., whether a spokesperson, press release, or press conference will be used.
17. Maintain an up-to-date media log.
18. Advise on communication styles, writing internal and external communications, distribution of internal newsletters, institutional image, and coordination of the President's participation in events.
19. Establish metrics on the effectiveness of institutional communication efforts.
20. Provide project management that keeps multiple projects and initiatives on budget and on schedule, including detailed, complex, and strategic projects that positively contribute to the enrollment and branding objectives.
21. Ensure compliance with the policies and procedures established for the area of communications, social networks, corporate identity, web, and other related areas.
22. Forecast, draft, implement, and oversee the communications area budget.
23. Prepare and submit periodic reports related to the communications area.
24. Comply with the provisions of the Mechanized Assistance Registration policy and the Performance Evaluation System.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, or related field required; master’s degree preferred from an accredited university.
2. Minimum of four (4) years of overseeing communications, branding, creative, and digital services within an organization, university, or agency related work experience.
3. Ability to express both verbally and in writing fluently in English and Spanish.
4. Knowledge of the principles and strategies of advertising, communications, publications, text writing, event development, sponsorships, and special events.
5. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize changing needs, and make appropriate decisions while meeting tight deadlines.
6. Proven track record of strategically deploying communication tools to disseminate messages across different platforms and to diverse audiences.
7. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
8. Ability to attend to and relate to high-level management personnel.
9. Interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and administrators.
10. Excellent leadership and teamwork skills.
11. Demonstrated ability to think strategically as well as tactically; ability to “think outside of the box."
12. Demonstrate mastery of business productivity technological tools and remote communication technologies to support their functions and offer physical and remote services.
13. Ability to use email or other alternative methods of communication.
14. Knowledge and experience in the use and management of technological equipment and applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, among others).
