Description
We are currently looking for an individual to join our team as Payroll Officer. Work consists of technical and administrative work related to the field of Human Resources that consists of carrying out activities related to the payroll area. Ana G. Mendez University serves a diverse student population, offering bilingual education to the community for traditional and non-traditional students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Evaluate and process semi-monthly payroll in the Time Quest system for transactions related to:
• Appointments
• Contracts
• Terminations
• Additional services and compensations
• Over Time
• Leaves
2. Verify, enter and ensure that transactions comply with the parameters established in the payroll process.
3. Manage new employee setup in the payroll system, including tax withholdings, benefit deductions, direct deposit information, and any changes to the employee profile.
4. Analyze transactions and apply policies, procedures and regulations related to Human Resources.
5. Guide and follow up with supervisors and employees on matters related to procedures and processes corresponding to the payroll area.
6. Receive and make phone calls to address issues related to the area.
7. Collaborate in the evaluation, analysis, preparation and completion of forms related to certifications and/or verifications of employment in Puerto Rico and the United States, among others, as requested.
8. Participate in employee orientation processes.
9. Collaborate with the Human Resources Team in special projects and activities.
10. Ensure confidentiality in processes, transactions and document management.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in Accounting or human resources from an accredited university.
2. One (1) year of experience in functions that involve data entry and the execution of tasks that include complex mathematical computations.
3. Ability to express himself/herself effectively, verbally and in writing, in Spanish and English.
4. Demonstrate mastery of business productivity technology tools as well as remote communication technology to support their functions and offer services physically and remotely.
5. Experience in payroll processing.
6. Knowledge of labor laws.
7. Ability to use telephone, email or other alternative methods of communication.
8. Knowledge and experience in the use and management of programmed technological equipment.
9. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis for payroll tracking.
10. Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with faculty, subordinate employees, students and the public.
11. Proactivity and problem-solving skills.
12. Strong mathematical skills, with precision in calculating special payroll deductions, tax withholdings, garnishments, and benefit contributions.
13. Skills in computerized systems and their applications.
14. Skills to work in a team and under pressure.
