Description
We are currently looking for an individual to join our team as Director of International Affairs. Responsible for assisting the Vice President of International Affairs and AGMU Executive Director in developing, planning and implementing strategies that promote the recruitment, admission and enrollment of in-person and online international students in all Campuses of Ana G. Méndez University.
Ana G. Mendez University serves a diverse student population, offering bilingual education to the community for traditional and non-traditional students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develop recruitment, communications and admission model for in-person and online international students in coordination with the AGMU Marketing, Admissions and Enrollment management staff.
2. Implement the recruitment, communications and admission model and strategies for in-person and online international students in coordination with the AGMU Marketing, Admissions and Enrollment management staff. From the recruitment efforts to the conversion of admitted students into enrolled students.
3. Develop and execute the Communication Plan to establish initial contact, follow-up, and guidance to international students in virtual mode (Teams), emails, phone calls, and letters about admission requirements, AGMU academic offering, procedure to submit admission application, and documents that must be attached to the application.
4. Guide and assist students and faculty in the application process for international education scholarships (Gilman, Boren and Fulbright) and compliance with immigration requirements and federal regulations, among others.
5. Attend and refer to admission applications received through the WEB and any other digital platform.
6. Develop and execute the follow-up protocol for international students with incomplete applications.
7. Conduct the credential evaluation process for international students through AACRAO EDGE.
8. Notify the student of the result of the evaluation of the admission application and proceed to the next step of the process as applicable.
9. Submit to the DSO a copy of the admission letters issued to begin the process of preparing and sending Form I-20 to international applicants to begin the protocol required to apply for the F1 Visa for studies toward a university degree.
10. Design and coordinate conferences and seminars for federal agencies and international organizations.
11. Prepare and submit periodic reports, as required.
12. Participate in marketing campaigns to generate awareness about the university to international students in coordination with the AVP of Marketing and Public Relations.
13. Develop and collaborate on international affairs projects with other universities.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
1. Master's Degree in International Relations or International Trade from an accredited university.
2. Five (5) years of experience in roles related to international activities.
3. Ability to express himself/herself effectively, verbally and in writing, in Spanish and English.
4. Analytical and writing skills in English and Spanish.
5. Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing international affairs processes.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills with an emphasis on the international university environment.
7. Knowledge in internship or exchange programs at the academic or student level.
8. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
9. Sufficient interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and visitors.
10. Demonstrate mastery of business productivity technology tools as well as remote communication technologies to support their functions and offer services physically and remotely.
11. Knowledge in the use of technological equipment and its programming.
12. Ability to use telephone, email or other alternative methods of communication.
13. Availability to work non-traditional hours, weekends and willingness to travel.
