Description
We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join our team as the Academic Director. This position is reporting directly to the Dean of Academic Affairs with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Campus Director, The Academic Director (AD) is a full-time academic administrator who provides a variety of services and support for the academic operations of a campus. The AD focuses on the day-to-day operations involved in the delivery of academic programs and serves as the primary resource at the campus level for students, faculty, administrators, and staff in these matters. The Academic Director with the Dean of Academic Affair and Associate Deans provides academic leadership on the campus to facilitate student academic achievement.
AGM University serves a diverse student population, offering bilingual education to the community for traditional and non-traditional students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Work with Dean, Scheduling Department and Student Retention to perform enrollment management activities including scheduling courses based on student population, and fiscal control policies. Track student progress (step-outs, etc.) to ensure the campus schedule is aligned with sequencing. Work with Admissions on any requests to add courses because of new students with transfer credit. Consult Dean on questions regarding academic requirements, transfer credit, etc.
2. Select and assign faculty to courses based on pre-determined qualification requirements and campus needs. Seek input from Dean on any exceptions to stated requirements prior to implementation of exceptions.
3. Work with Dean/Program Coordinator/Director and Academic Recruiter to recruit, select, and hire faculty, including identifying faculty hiring needs and potential recruiting activities (career fairs, community visits, soliciting referrals, etc.) for new and existing programs.
4. Collaborate with Online Academic Director to ensure integration and alignment between on-ground and online programs, maintaining consistency in curriculum, quality standards, and institutional learning outcomes.
5. Work with practicum/externship/internship placement coordinators to identify and acquire new placement sites.
6. Work with Dean and Learning Resource Center to identify and procure resources/books needed for the campus, based on programs offered.
7. Support and collaborate to ensure that both on-ground and online programs align with the standards required by accrediting agencies (MSCHE, ACEN, and others), as well as federal and state regulations for distance education.
8. Ensure faculty provide timely grading, and student census reporting in accordance with published academic calendars. Train new faculty on expectations regarding rigor/grading expectations.
9. Enforce policies, processes, and procedures related to the delivery of academic programs at the campus, ensuring compliance with academic Federal, State, and local requirements for the effective implementation of academic programs.
10. Assist Dean in collecting assessment data for the campus; review findings with Dean for action plans, as needed. Co-implement action plans at the campus level.
11. Perform classroom observations and provide information to Dean and Faculty Advancement Department to be used in formal faculty evaluations and ongoing coaching. Follow up on recommendations and feedback received from Dean and Faculty Advancement department.
12. Assist Dean and Product Development team in identifying faculty that could serve as SMEs for program development.
13. Collaborate with Dean to adjudicate students conduct violations related to academics (plagiarism, etc.). Work with Dean to resolve issues related to coverage of content, behavior, etc. Communicate directly with faculty and students as needed to gather information to address these issues.
14. Work with Dean and Campus Director Integrated Services to facilitate/host and promote activities and events to support student engagement.
15. Work with Career Services to host events (on-campus recruiting, workshops, etc.) and promote services offered by Career Services to students and alumni.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
1. Mater Degree in Education, Administration or an area directly related to his/her duties at an accredited university.
2. Six (6) years of experience executing similar tasks.
3. Ability to express himself/herself effectively, verbally and in writing, in Spanish and English.
4. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population of staff faculty and students.
5. Evidence of strong organizational and project management skills and attention to detail.
6. Excellent working knowledge of the interrelationships between academics, student services, administration, and campus operations.
7. Familiarity with current best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
8. Strong knowledge of national, state, and local requirements related to higher education administration, accreditation and licensing, relationships with faculty, administrative employees, students, and the public.
9. Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle) and best practices in online, blended, and distance education pedagogy.
10. Excellent leadership and motivation skills.
11. High degree of discretion in the performance of his/her duties.
12. Available to work in non-traditional schedule including nights and weekends, when necessary.
13. Available to travel in or out of the United States for trainings, conferences, or meetings.
